Product Marketing Manager
Who We Are
Mockingbird is a DTC-first baby gear brand known for understanding today’s parents, creating thoughtfully designed products, and providing above & beyond customer service. In a sea of old school baby brands, we’re proud to stand out, offering families not just better products but also a better overall experience.
Our flagship product is our Single-to-Double Stroller, an everyday stroller that offers unparalleled flexibility, and can be paired with our complimentary stroller accessories. After years of innovative design & engineering and in-depth consumer testing, we launched our second major product, the 2-in-1 High Chair, which rapidly became one of the most popular high chairs on the market. Our vision is for families to be able to rely on Mockingbird through parenting stages and milestones – from newborn to toddler to child, from first strolls to first food and more – a brand parents could never imagine living without.
While humility is in our team’s DNA, we feel extremely proud of how much parents and top baby gear experts alike praise our products. We’ve received over 10,000 5-star customer reviews, we’ve been honored with awards & recommendations from the likes of Wirecutter, Forbes, and Babylist, and we hear from Mockingbird families every day how much our products mean to them (we actually have a whole Slack channel that’s just screenshots like this, this, and this)!
As a team, we’re scrappy, independent, and entrepreneurial, while also being strategic, methodical, and highly collaborative. We’re extremely thoughtful, caring, and supportive of our customers, and perhaps even more so of each other. We’re thrilled with how far Mockingbird has already come, but we’re invigorated by the thought of how much room we still have to grow. And that's where you come in…
What You’d Be Doing
Mockingbird has a well-established product-market fit, strong growth, and an impassioned customer base. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Marketing team as we continue to expand our impact. We’re looking for a talented, ambitious self-starter to join our team as a Product Marketing Manager. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, product, retail and customer experience. As a Product Marketing Manager, you would directly shape what and how we bring products to market, and determine how we position and message them to consumers. You would contribute meaningfully to a fast-growing early-stage company and report into Mockingbird’s Director of Product Marketing.
At Mockingbird, we’re obsessed with our customers and how they experience our brand and products. As we grow, we need someone who can take ownership of projects, ask the right questions, and ensure the products and marketing efforts we develop resonate deeply with our consumers. This requires a customer-first approach to innovation, organization to bring all the pieces together for a product launch, the flexibility to adjust when things change, and the ability to zoom out to see the overarching vision.
You’d be responsible for leading and executing GTM strategies, ensuring our product development process is strongly rooted in the customer voice, evolving our consumer insights muscle, and building scalable processes to improve efficiencies across our teams and Product Marketing function:
Specifically, here are a few of the things you’ll do:
- Lead Go-to-Market Strategy & Execution: Lead GTM strategy for new product launches, owning timelines, project management, and cross-functional coordination. Ensure cohesive messaging across all marketing channels and collaborate with web and retail teams on product merchandising. Drive content development strategy (studio imagery, lifestyle imagery, how-to-content, comparison charts). Help forecast sales and set pricing for new products.
- Champion Consumer Insights: Gather, analyze, and distribute customer insights to drive product and marketing strategies. Lead consumer research initiatives including consumer interviews and surveys. Develop scalable processes to centralize and share insights across the organization and cultivate a customer-centric culture.
- Product Positioning & Messaging: Serve as the customer advocate throughout the product development process. Define product positioning, craft compelling consumer-facing messaging, and provide strategic guidance to the product team. Conduct market and competitive research to identify trends and opportunities. Oversee product packaging experience including artwork and instruction materials.
- Process Optimization: Improve and standardize Product Marketing processes, enhance knowledge-sharing tools, and build scalable systems to drive efficiency.
What We’ll Be Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in product marketing, brand management, or a related field at a consumer products company, ideally in the DTC space
- Has led go-to-market (GTM) strategy and execution, collaborating cross-functionally to drive alignment and launch success
- Customer-obsessed, with proven success collecting, synthesizing and disseminating consumer insights and consumer research, including contributing to a product roadmap (as in, provided a point of view based on consumer insights/research about what products should be made next, and what features should be prioritized)
- Experience writing product marketing messaging and positioning, including translating complex details into relatable marketable messaging
- Skilled at cross-functional collaboration, both with marketing channel owners as well as product, customer service, supply chain, and/or designers
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with experience keeping multiple initiatives on track while improving processes for efficiency and effectiveness
- Strategic thinker with a bias for action, comfortable operating independently and making data-driven decisions to move projects forward
- Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, adapting to shifting priorities while staying focused on impact
- Experience with creative execution, whether leading content development, participating in photoshoots, or shaping packaging and product materials
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone excited to join the team.
